FAQ:

  • Question: I don't have a printer, how can I print?
  • Answer: To install a printer just Click on Start - All Programs, then go up to the PRINTERS folder, double click on the printer you wish to use. When the printer box opens, select Printer - set as default (there should be a check next to this option). Close all the windows. The next time you hit print, the printer you just installed will be where you are printing, unless you change it.
  • Question: Where do I look for lectures or other files?
  • Answer: The Computer Lab has an area called the "Public folder" - This should be the first place you start looking for anything! This folder contains multiple folders of various types of files, for example...
There are Student produced files: electronic materials that past students have created, current students have written, shared or found beneficial to them while studying at OCPM.
There are Instructor created files and other electronic resources instructors have made available.
There are current Class Audio Lectures available as .mp3 files (the secured area on the web has the complete collection)
The Educational Resource folder contains department provided files, in a PDF format. Documents were created by students and/or tutors for use by OCPM students. (Acrobat Reader is required to view PDF files, but it is standard software on all OCPM PCs and free to download from www.adobe.com).
There are also folders containing on-line web links to helpful resources, computer tips & tricks, schedules, applications, printer connection links and more!
  • Question: Where can I save a file?
  • Answer: Your My Documents folder - Each student has a folder for storing their personal files. OCPM provides students with a file storage area (called My Documents). You can access this information from any computer within the Computer Lab, but access to YOUR My Documents is not available to anyone else, nor is it accessible from the web page or anywhere outside of the Computer Lab.
