Transfer to OCPM
Students who have had successful attendance at another College of Podiatric Medicine and are in good academic and personal standing may apply to the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine for transfer. Decisions regarding transfer admission status are at the discretion of the Vice President and Dean of Academic Affairs, the Enrollment Management Committee members, and the Dean of Student Affairs and Admissions.
Applicants for transfer admission must meet the criteria for initial admission as outlined in the requirements section and follow the procedures outlined below.
- Submit a letter to the Office of Admissions requesting transfer consideration and a transfer application document.
- Complete and return the required application for transfer documents along with the appropriate application processing fee ($100.00 USD).
- Submit a statement outlining the reasons for requesting transfer along with the application.
- Provide an official transcript of academic performance in all undergraduate, graduate and professional programs of study, domestic and international. If there was international institutional enrollment, reports from a recognized foreign credentialing agency must be jointly submitted for full consideration.
- Provide a letter of status from the Academic Dean or Dean of Student Affairs at the College currently being attended. Official transcripts must indicate GPA of 3.5 or higher for transfer consideration.
- Upon notification of eligibility, the applicant must schedule and complete an official campus visit at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine for final determination. A personal interview does not indicate successful transfer consideration.
Transfer status for students who have attended an institution of another professional discipline will be reviewed at the discretion of College administrators on a case-by-case evaluation and will not necessarily meet "advanced standing" upon admission.
The Binary Degree Program
OCPM cooperates in an accelerated binary degree program with several national institutions.
Transcripts submitted to OCPM directly by the student will not be forwarded to the transcript verification service. You MUST submit all official transcript copies to AACPMAS. Official processing of transcripts cannot begin until all transcripts have been received by AACPMAS. Please see previous section, Admissions: Transcript Verification.
This program permits qualified undergraduate students at participating institutions to enter OCPM after the completion of three years of college study. Entrance into the program is predicated on proven academic abilities including the completion of courses normally associated with a general pre-med curriculum, commitment to the profession and its advancement, and demonstrated moral and professional character.
In addition to the intellectual standards which have been established for admission, students are expected to possess superior personal qualifications.
Depending on undergraduate contractual requirements, students in the binary program will receive the B.S. or B.A. degree from their cooperating undergraduate institution upon successful completion of the first and/or second year of study at OCPM.
The DPM degree will be awarded following the successful completion of the remaining years of the required medical curriculum at OCPM.
